Student Awards
Nominations are now being accepted!
We honor exceptional scholarship produced by UNI graduate students. Student Award categories include: Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation; Outstanding Master's Thesis; Outstanding Creative Master's Thesis; and Outstanding Master's Research Paper.
Nomination Process
- Each advisor may nominate a maximum of two students for this award.
- Nominees must have earned their degree in Fall 2023, Spring 2024, or Summer 2024.
- The evaluation committee will include members of the Regular Graduate Faculty.
Submit the following to Graduate Studies gradcollege@uni.edu by Friday, January 31, 2025 by 4:30 p.m.:
- A single electronic copy of the nominated work.
- A cover letter from the faculty paper advisor.
- The current mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number of the graduate student.
- The student's one-page resume.
The award will be announced at the Annual Graduate Faculty Meeting.

Outstanding Master's or Creative Thesis Award
Judged on: creativity, performance, scholarship, significance, and contribution to the field of study.
Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award
Judged on: clarity, scholarship, methodology, significance, and contribution to the field of study.
