Graduate Studies Tuition Scholarships: Things to Know

What is a tuition scholarship?

Graduate College Tuition Scholarships are a type of scholarship that allows graduate students at UNI to receive partial funding for their graduate degree. No service or work is done in exchange for any awarded scholarship.

Is funding linked to my admission offer?

Admission acceptance letters do not include an offer of funding, nor is it implied. You must apply separately for financial support (graduate assistantships, scholarships or Financial Aid). Students will be notified separately of any funding they might receive, upon revision of eligibility.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Graduate College Tuition Scholarships are awarded to qualifying graduate students as a half or full scholarship at the in-state tuition rate. All student awardees must be full time (9 or more credit hours per semester). Conditionally admitted students due to GPA reasons are not eligible for funding.

Will a tuition scholarship qualify me for in-state tuition?

Graduate College Tuition Scholarships (TS) do not qualify a student for the in-state or resident tuition rate. Please visit the FAQ for more information on funding.

How do I apply for a tuition scholarship?

Applicants should complete the application form provided at the bottom of this page. Graduate College Tuition Scholarships are only available in a student’s graduate program and qualifying students must re-apply for support each academic year.

When should I apply?

Graduate College Tuition Scholarship applications should be submitted to the student's graduate program between January and February 1rst for full consideration for the next academic year.

When will I know if I will be selected?

Graduate College Tuition Scholarship applications are reviewed by the graduate program only. Once the graduate program makes their decision, and the scholarship is approved, an official offer is sent to the student from the Graduate College. Timing of decisions and offers vary by department, but departments usually will make decisions between March and April.
