East moved that Minutes #864 be approved as published. Motion was seconded by Osman and passed.
Somervill reported that he has completed the first draft of the UNI Policies and Procedures for Scientific Misconduct--draft April 17, 1997. Following the June workshop in Washington, D.C., he will review the policy with Tim McKenna, University Operations Auditor, and submit it to the Graduate Council for approval next fall. Then he will take it to the Faculty Senate and to the Cabinet.
Crew announced that Sue Doody (HPELS) will represent the College of Education on the Graduate College Curriculum Committee. Crew then reviewed the duties of the Curriculum Committee and reminded the Council that the Graduate Curriculum approval process must parallel the University Curriculum Committee's review process. This did not occur during the last curriculum cycle and problems arose as a result.
Crew addressed the open position for Chair of the Graduate Council Curriculum Committee. This position is normally filled by a member of the Graduate Council. Charles Dedrick volunteered his services, and Stefanich moved to close nominations. The Council voted unanimously for Charles Dedrick to chair the Graduate Council Curriculum Committee in 1997-1998. Crew continues to urge the other colleges to elect their Curriculum Committee member.
The meeting adjourned at 3:55 pm.
There will be no more Graduate Council meetings this academic year. Have a nice summer!
