Psychology (MA)

LEARN FROM A STRONG EMPIRICAL ORIENTATION
The University of Northern Iowa Department of Psychology offers an MA degree in Psychology designed to provide advanced training in psychology, with specific emphases in clinical science and social psychology. The program has a strong empirical orientation, emphasizes competence in research methodology, and requires that each graduate student complete a Master’s thesis. The program is designed to prepare students to go on to earn a doctoral degree, and it also prepares students for MA-level careers in assessment and treatment (under appropriate supervision), as well as MA-level research positions in academia, research centers, the government, and business and teaching positions at the community college level.
