PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH PROJECTS WITH FACULTY

The Master of Music in Music History provides exceptional graduate-level training in music history and literature and prepares students for the possibility of doctoral study in musicology. Students will enhance their research and writing skills, continue to develop their own comprehensive knowledge of music through study of music theory, history, and analysis within the Graduate Music Core, and begin to explore areas of specialization within musicology through directed work with their major professors and through additional coursework in topics of interest. Students in this program have taken part in co-research projects with faculty members, presented at musicology conferences and symposiums, co-authored articles, been accepted for doctoral programs in musicology, and gained valuable teaching experience at the college level through assisting with undergraduate music history courses, music appreciation courses, and tutoring.
